This year’s judging method and marking scheme is based on the
model created by Black Swan last year. It aims to ensure consistency of
marking, by enabling judges to rate the same level of performance with
the same mark.
Each category in the marking scheme is broken down into a hierarchy of
criteria, from 15 points indicating the level of qualities and attributes
expected from a team scoring maximum marks, graded down to 1 point for the minimum.
The amount of text the judges have to refer to has been rationalised, with
every other box blank (apart from a ‘+/-‘). This means for example that to
be awarded 8 points for Sword handling a team will have achieved
slightly better than the qualities listed for 7 points, but slightly less than
those for 9 points.
