BEST TRADITIONAL DANCE

This year we are re-introducing the traditional competition to award a prize for the Best *Traditional Dance. This will be judged separately, after the main competition.

The difference this year to the traditional category of a few years ago, is that it is to be an additional prize to enable teams wishing to enter their ‘own’ dance in the Open or Premier as usual, and their traditional dance for the Traditional Prize.

Teams that usually dance a traditional dance in the Open or Premier can still do so, but also enter the Traditional Prize with the same dance, if they wish.

*For the purpose of this prize, we have interpreted ‘Traditional Dance’ to be a notated dance collected from the North East of England, such as Newbiggin, Winlaton, Swalwell, Murton, High Spen, Amble, Bedlington, Lemington, Walbottle, Westerhope, Beadnell, Wylam, Cold Hesledon.

The dances will be marked according to separate special criteria which we we will forward this to you if you decide to enter this prize.

There will be a prize for the team who utilises (in any way) the most original/creative display of cat-print during their evening showcase performance.

To be judged by Whip the Cat.
